Yellow dock root has a sour, astringent, and bitter taste and a clearing, stimulating, purifying effect. Yellowdock promotes the production of digestive bile, and helps to clear heat from the stomach and digestive tract and combat even stubborn constipation. It nourishes the brain and nervous system due to its phosphorus contents. It is an excellent remedy for stone and gravel in the kidneys, bladder, and uterus. It is also useful in the treatment of skin diseases. Yellow dock contains readily-available iron, and is often added to herbal formulas for anemia to increase the absorption of iron and other nutrients.
