High in flavonoids such as anthocyanosides, bilberries help to stabilize collagen and protect the eyes from free radical damage. They aid in quicker adjustment to darkness and recovery from glare, and help strengthen the night vision. Bilberries also increase intercellular vitamin C levels, helping to lessen capillary permeability and fragility.  This make bilberry a useful internal remedy for those battling hemorrhoids. They can be useful in most conditions caused or worsened by poor circulation, including sexual dysfunction, poor eyesight, brain fog, and poor circulation in the extremities.  They are often blended with ginkgo for this.
