Triphala, meaning “three fruits,” is made up of three digestive fruits native to India and the Middle East: amalaki (Emblica officinalis), bibhitake (Terminalia bellirica), and haritaki (Terminalia chebula). Triphala is a staple herb blend in Ayurveda. It acts as a detoxifying, gut-healing, gas-relieving laxative. It is especially recommended for balancing and calming the vata, and is also included in small amounts in a wide array of ayurvedic blends.
