Phytolacca americana- Poke Root Tincture
Poke root is a powerful purifier and lymphatic. It can have a strong purgative effect; its power should be respected, and it must be dosed very carefully. It is most often used when there is lymph stagnation and congestion, often during viral illness. When used internally, poke root is typically included in a formula to balance out its strong action and potential toxicity. If you start to feel nauseous when taking poke root, discontinue use and reduce your dose when you start again. Infused in oil or included in a compress, poke root can be applied topically to swollen glands or areas troubled by lymph stagnation. Makes a great breast massage oil!
**This is a small-dose herb. It should only be used under the care of a physician. Poke root is not recommended for use in pregnancy or for use by children**
THS recommends that you consult with a qualified healthcare professional before using herbal products, particularly if you take other medications, or if you are nursing, pregnant, or expecting to become pregnant.
