Mitchella repens

This plant has a history of use by Native American women for its ability to ease labor pains, prevent miscarriage, and relieve menstrual cramps. It is often used to stabilize pregnancies when the patient has miscarried previously or when there is a threat of miscarriage. When used during pregnancy, partridge berry should be taken under the guidance of a practitioner. Partridge berry has also been used for urinary tract complaints such as UTI, BPH, and cystitis, due to its diuretic and astringent properties.

THS recommends that you consult with a qualified healthcare professional before using herbal products, particularly if you take other medications, or if you are nursing, pregnant, or expecting to become pregnant.
