Podophyllum peltatum

Mandrake was praised as a medicine in Ancient Egyption texts, and the Bible mentions its use as an aphrodisiac. It was also used as an early anesthetic due to its psychoactive properties. It has since fallen out of favor as an internal medicine, due to very high potential for toxicity. Today, it is more used in magic and spiritual practice.

*not recommended for internal use*
