Hops are sedating, relaxing, and slightly analgesic. They may be useful in dispelling panic attacks and correcting insomnia, especially when due to nervous tension or anxiety. Hops are very bitter, making them a useful digestive aid and appetite stimulant. They may also reduce muscle pain and tension, both when taken internally and when applied topically as an infused oil. Hops may also be useful for increasing breast milk production, particularly when combined with other lactation-promoting herbs such as fenugreek and goat’s rue.
*Hops may be unsafe during pregnancy. This should not be considered a full list of all possible contraindications*
THS recommends that you consult with a qualified healthcare professional before using herbal products, particularly if you take other medications, or if you are nursing, pregnant, or expecting to become pregnant.
