Caulophyllum thalictroides 

Blue cohosh is a phytoestrogenic herb with a warming and drying action, making it beneficial for women who experience amenorrhea (lack of menstruation) caused excessive cold and damp in the body. Symptoms of cold congestion in the uterus include delayed or absent menstruation over several months, scanty periods, irregular menstruation, lower abdominal cramps with the onset of the period, and ovarian and uterine pain associated with congestion and spasms. The root is also a uterine stimulant and relaxant, which means it can both move congestion and relax tension and spasms in the female reproductive system. For this reason, blue cohosh is known as an abortive and should not be taken during pregnancy, unless under the strict guidance of a midwife for labor or dispelling the placenta.
