California Poppy

Eschscholzia californica 

California poppy is not a narcotic like some poppies, but it does act upon the nervous system. It can be taken in smaller doses during the day for anxiety and tension.  For this purpose, it is generally mixed with other herbs such as oatstraw, passionflower and lavender. California poppy can be also be taken in larger doses for insomnia. It serves as a mild analgesic, and can be useful for pain and headaches, particularly when nervous tension is a factor.
