Chondrus crispus- Irish Moss Tincture
Irish moss is well known for its gelling properties, which are born of its high carrageen content. It has a long history of use in Ireland and Jamaica as a soothing remedy for cough and sore throat. For this purpose, it is often boiled down and added to milk with honey and sometimes cinnamon. As with most mosses and seaweeds, Irish moss is also very mineral and nutrient rich. Some folks even boil it down and make hair gel with it!
