Saraca asoca
This large tree in India has blood red bark, which some say indicates its use for painful menses with excessive bleeding. It has an affinity for the uterus, and is used in combination with myrrh, manjistha and turmeric to treat endometrial fibroids. It can help with uterine prolapse or miscarriage, and can ease painful urination while encouraging its flow. Ashoka literally translates to “remover of sorrow”- it can lessen signs of depression, especially for those dealing with deep loss or suffering.
