Pink Monkeyflower Essence with Herbalist Amanda Furbee

In 2020, I would like to explore flower essences with you. This very gentle, but powerful medicine is taken in small doses, otherwise known as micro-dosing. Each month we will take a deeper look at one plant and how it might be beneficial to you.

The beauty of flower essence is that it works by enhancing and working with the energetic body. Flower essences are subtle energetic medicine to help and shift whatever energy you are working on, by embracing the spirit of each individual plant. I know that I am constantly trying to evolve and breakdown the layers of life to be a more well-rounded and grounded person. At times, the older we become, the muddier it gets to try and remember the core essence of our beings. Our emotions often rule our whole life. Whether or not we want to admit it, our mood can make or break a day or moment in time.

2020 has brought many things to the surface and out of hiding. For those who do not want to be seen, it can feel like shame, guilt or fear of exposure from things that we aren’t ready to be brought into the light. This process can be very painful and cause an intense amount of fear. It sure has felt like we've been thrust into massive change in most all corners of our lives. This change has forced us out of our shell (spoken like a true Cancer).

Though all of this year, I have been working with Pink Monkeyflower Essence. This adorable pink flower is excellent for soothing the throat and heart chakra, inviting us to gently face our fears. The fears that lay deep inside us, often stemming from childhood. When you feel like you have a hard lump in your throat that you just can’t swallow because it’s frozen with fear. I have found in my experience that when I need to speak about something, it can become energetically stuck in my throat chakra. Pink Monkeyflower, or Mimulus lewisii, has been a great ally in this fear that dwells in my throat and heart. Allowing a gentle push or breakthrough to happen while being curled up in loving arms.  We all need more of that this year!  A big hug! Literally and physically.

Pink Monkey Flower can be helpful in these situations:

  • Soothing deep trauma.
  • Creating an aura of comfort around us whilst our fears are in the spotlight, helping us face them.
  • Allowing others to see us in our fear and weakness.
  • Relieving shame and unworthiness.
  • Encouraging intimacy in our lives.
  • Being vulnerable and allow others to witness our tenderness. Real connection.
  • Protecting us against our own fears.

FES Repertory writes of Pink Monkey Flower, “Pink Monkey Flower gently opens such souls by helping them to take emotional risks again, teaching that it is only by remaining open and risking vulnerability that one can experience the warmth of human love and affection.

Beautifully written Amanda. That familiar feeling of stuckness in the throat and then in the heart🥺. Fear of letting my words be heard. Or that they would not be well received…Maybe loving well without needing to speak. Letting my words speak to my own soul and then loving from that place of wholeness. 🤷🏻‍♀️
